REVAMPING KUTTAN KULAM AND ITS PRECINCTS

The Kuttan Kulam project is a welfare initiative proposed for the inhabitants of Irinjalakuda. The Pond belongs to the very prestigious Koodalmanikyam temple, which is the only ancient temple that is dedicated to Lord Bharata, the third brother of Lord Rama. The name of the pond comes from a prominent vasthu expert known as Kuttan Warrier who also planned and designed the pond. One of the exceptional features of the pond is that direct sunlight falls on the pond from sunrise to sunset and hence is believed to be free from impurities and germs.
The pond in its existing condition was partially destroyed on its southern side which is the road leading to the temple, thus making it completely unsafe for public use. Due to the closed compound walls, and no action from the public, the pond is idle, dirtying the surface of the pond.
The renovation proposed is to make the pond more social and accessible for public use.
Some of the features proposed includes stairway leading to the pond, street lights, renovation of the compound walls, separate bathing huts, appropriate shading from trees, etc.
