“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin”
The residence at Cherai is designed respecting the privacy of a home but exposing its spaces with an open planning. With spaces merging with each other but obliviously separating them and lending out the site’s dynamism from nature into the interiors, the residence becomes a buoyant affair between nature, architecture and the residents.
Simplicity and serenity permeates the entire space. The L-shaped verandah leads up to the foyer space articulated by a feature wall, beyond which a courtyard is partially hidden. The ground floor accommodates the formal living, family living, the master bedroom and a guest room each with its own walk-in-wardrobes and toilets, the dining space, kitchen and work area.
The first floor comprises of two bedrooms and a family living space. A cut out over the family living in the ground floor provides it with a double height. An existing mango tree towards the east of the plot has been retained and merged with the plan by the provision of a court adjacent to the kitchen.
